  Mild-Mannered – Video Project (Assignment 3)   What is the video about? The theme I chose for this assignment is a How-to (demonstration) with hints of methods used in Close-up (detail) in the context of embroidery.   What is the concept? I wanted to use embroidery as a form of protest for the events happening in the United States with ICE and the poor handling of the entire administration. In a previous course I had the chance to learn about women using embroidery and other fiber arts in activism to enhance their voices toward various issues. Textiles can give a voice to individuals who may be silenced or confronted because it’s something certain people of higher social status don’t want to hear. I hoped to subvert the expectations of my audience by showing the quiet, and unassuming nature of embroidery (with interrupting the peace using the audio) then suddenly transitioning to a harsh environment where the full piece is shown displaying the words “Fuc...

Colour video edit Layered lights edit Got to play around with Premier Pro and thought it was pretty interesting! I will definitely be looking into this software a bit more !

  Assignment 3 Video Sketch - Camera Shots and Movements! For this one I took the camera into 711 and wandered down each isle. I wanted it to be like a POV of someone browsing the items in a convenience store, taking in all the colourful items while displaying the contrast between the vibrant packaging and the neutral tile. (Had to pause a lot during this one..)

Assignment 3 Video Sketch - Frame! Not the biggest fan of this one but I tried to use some shutters that I had to give the effect of someone peeking through the blinds.  The frame only shows what I let you see!

  Assignment 3 Video Sketch - Colour! For this video sketch I hoped to create a sort of vintage look that's similar to an old western/distopian film using a brown glass bottle that I had laying around. I wanted to experiment with how colour can change the mood when contrasted with the clarity/ lack of the copper colour at the beginning. I'm super happy with the dreamlike, distopian feel of the end result!

  Assignment 3 Video Sketch - Light! For this video I wanted to play with how colour and light interacted with myself and the camera in a dark room. This is sort of inspired by one of the videos that we watched when this project was introduced. I really like how the light affects the shape of my face depending on the angle and makes everything seem detached in a way! I really like how the colours turned out as well!

 

 Met up again to practice our Foley project!
